Things are a bit quiet on this subforum, so let us get the ball rolling - which wargames do you play?
Personally I mostly play Gorkamorka these days, although in the past I've played 3rd edition Warhammer 40,000, Mordheim, and Necromunda. How about you guys?

I've been a huge fan of Necromunda. Nowadays I have to admit I game very rarely - heck, but that's going to change. Each sunday me , Artur and our buddies meet and we work on our armies. I hope to bring my SM to a playable size. Also I wish to dust off my Warmachine and Hordes armies and check out those new rules. Have anyone tried MK2? I also like WFB , but somehow I never managed to prepare (assemble and paint) a whole army for this system and the last time I've played it was around 4th or 5th edition.

Forgot to add that soon we also plan to try Pulp City . Maciek (man behind Pulp CIty) promised to help us in assembling our teams . It should be fun and something really different.

I have never really played any table games since i was a kid just love the models so my input in this would be pointless, so i really don't understand why i am still writing but i feel some feedback is needed so thats my two pence worth. However one day I would like to get back into gaming i did enjoy it as a kid but i just don't have the time for it at the moment, what is the best short time game to play ?

Depends on what you mean by "short", what sort of thing you enjoy, what your friends enjoy, that kind of stuff.

I mean a game that does not take long to set up and play.

I understood that, but it depends on what you define as "short". If you've only ever played large scale 40K battles then a skirmish game might be short to you. It's a matter of perspective.
Our first games of Gorkamorka took a lot longer than our games do now (as we're familiar with most permutations of the rules now, eliminating the need to look everything up).

O in that case i guess its best just to try and see what i like then and what works best for me .............

I'd suggest you figure out a rough amount of time you're willing to spend playing. Or perhaps decide based on something like the length of the average turn of gameplay. It also depends a lot on what other people are willing to commit.

I presently only play 40k. I have a 2 year old son, wife and work full time so I don't play that often. I have played ever version of 40k, I've played warhammer fantasy from 3rd edition up, Necromunda, blood bowl, mordheim, Epic, Space Hulk, Man O' War, Armati, DBA, Warhammer Anciets, Warzone, Warmachine/Hordes and probably a few others I have forgotten. I've sold off all my armies except for my 40k armies; which I have sold most of. I am now left with a very large chaos renegade militia army(~10k), a very large ork army (~10k), radical daemon hunter (2K), Sisters of Battle (2500), small Grey Knight contingent to keep the sisters in check, Iron Hands (2500), and a pretty big Chaos Space Marine force (~6k). I have had every army at least once and most of them several times; same thing with the warhammer fantasy armies with the exception of the tomb kings and ogres as they come out after I stopped playing it much. Although the new rules look promising... I thought about trying out the new Warmachine/Hordes rules but I am just really not a fan of the system or the figures for the most part. Its too geared toward power gaming and doing tricksy gimmicky combos. I've been playing table top games since the mid to late 80's. Jeez, now I feel old.

@lone dirty dog: different people , different approach . personally I'd chose the game that has models you enjoy. As it seems you're not after a competitive tournament play you can change the rules to your liking. Moreover most "bigger" systems (wfb, wh40k for example)have rules for playing smaller encounters (can't recall the exact name but for example small wh40k was called combat partol or something like that). this quite often prove to be even more enjoayable than big battles. anyways expect first games to be a tad time consuming - at least to the moment you get a hang of the rules. But that's just my opinion .

Firstly thanks to all for your advice, I think i will check out a local war gamers club and have a look at whats going on there, then i guess its a case of what inspires. I quite like the idea of Necromunda, the building a gang seems a cool idea a bit more freedom but i guess its what looks fun to play on the day. I used to play Dark future as a kid but that was years ago now i like the idea of apocalyptic Mad Max themed games, is there many out there with this theme but also has a good set of rules to play with?. Once again thanks for the help and all advice welcome.
